81 ) "Treatment was not as bad as anticipated. On this side of prostate
cancer, things look great!' - Paul Vickery.
82) "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all those that
made my prostate seed implant possible. This procedure was less painful
and more effective than I thought it would be. Because of my positive
experieces, I would recommend this procedure." - Walter Mowa.
83) "With a PSA of 5.4, a seeding was done on August 30, 2006. I had
considerable difficulty with swelling and a reaction to Sulphur. In the
months following there were excessive trips to the bathroom, resulting in
an overactive bladder. By December of 2006 the PSA count was 1.4. On April
23, 2007 it was 0.9. On October 15, 2007 it was 0.5. Therefore, I would
conclude the seeding was effective, for which I was grateful. When I went
for the OCtober 15, 2007 appointment to get the current PSA reading prior
to my October 31, 2007 appointment with Dr Echt, Dr John Pickents gave me
some samples of Detrol LA and Vestcare to try to control the overactive
bladder. For the last coupl of weeks, almost every time I need to urinate,
there is a bowel movement involved. Dr Pickens also gave me some samples
of Levitra to help my ED problem that has been building over the last four
years simce my medications have increased and this seeding has occured." -
Bob Watlington.
84) "Doing fine, seeding seems to be the route to take. The The Decatur
bunch was super!" - Billy F. Johnson
85) "I was given the news that I had prostate cancer 1 1/2 years ago. I
thought that I faced an uncertain future with a serious operation and a
long recovery. Then I was presented the option of seed implants. I missed
1/2 day of work and returned to my normal exercise routine the next week.
My PSA level, which was at 4.6, dropped to 1.4, then 0.8, and as of last
week was 0.69. My life has been impacted by cancer, true, but I've
maintained my life style and hope for the future." - Dean Straw
86) "I had prostate seed implants December 2005 and radiation treatment
January and February 2006 with Dr. Echt. I have had a check up every 6
months. My PSA has been nil and I am doing very well. I recommend Dr Echt
very highly. I believe I made the right choice for my treatment. I could
not have been treated any nicer by his staff and radiation technicians.
Thank you Dr Echt for getting me through the process."
87) "I personally feel the seed implant treatment is less invasive than
other methods of treatment. I do not know how effective it would be on a
stage IV person. The side effects are not too uncomfortable. I would need
to know how effective it is for say 3 - 5 years, before endorsing it
totally. I feel so far it has been very effective in doing what it was
designed to do."
88) "I had this procedure about 8 months ago. With the help of Flomax I
have experienced a minimum of discomfort and I am now weaning myself from
this medicine. My 6-month PSA test showed no signs of cancer. For my early
stage cancer I am confident I made the right choice."
89) "Dr Echt was extremely professional and thorough. He and his staff
totally prepared me for my upcoming experience. All the information I
needed was provided to me, including the medications I would need right
after surgery. I had done a lot of research prior to making my decision to
use seeds. The only major factor in choosing this course is to make sure
you use someone with a lot of experience, like Dr. Echt. Everything went
as he described and 4 hours after arriving for my procedure I walked out
of the surgery center. I have had absolutely no problems since then and my
PSA has dropped from 5.4 to 1.4 in three months. Dr. Echt is the best" -
Richard Spreen
90) "When Dr. Goldberg's office called and asked me to come in, as soon as
possible I knew the results of my latest biopsy were not good. Sure enough
the biopsy showed cancer. Dr. Goldberg informed me that it was a Gleason 7
and explained what that meant. He said that I would need to make a choice
concerning treatment options. My instinct was to get it out of there,
which meant surgery, but Dr. Goldberg was concerned that due to my size I
might have a tough time with surgery. He said that it was my choice and
referred me to a surgeon but he recommended Radiation Therapy and Seed
Implantation as a better option. He said that it has less side effects and
equal results with surgery. He referred me to Dr. Echt."
"I met Dr. Echt at the Los Colinas Cancer Center in Irving. He was very
informative and spent considerable time examining me and going over the
type and stage of my cancer. He pointed out that due to the stage of
cancer I had that even with surgery I should have radiation to make sure
and get any cancer that might have spread. He explained the procedures
involved in radiation therapy and seed implantation and answered all my
questions. I made the choice to go with Dr. Echt."
"I must say that the experience was better than I could have ever
imagined. It was a quick twenty-five treatments at the cancer center. The
staff and facilities are excellent. Then it was off to Valley View Surgery
to have the seeds implanted. Dr Echt implanted the seeds on a Friday and I
was back at work on Tuesday. Other than some mild soreness for a few days
the procedure was painless and I am back to being the grumpy old man my
wife adores."
"I thank Dr. Goldberg for recommending Dr. Echt and I thank Dr. Echt for
his excellent treatment. I highly recommend this procedure and Dr. Echt.
His team is wonderful and the facilities are first class." - Stephen M.
Hughes
91) "I would recommend your clinic to everyone. I think you're the best
there is. I also recommend anyone with prostate cancer go through the same
procedures I did. Doing nothing is wrong. Although some side effects are
troublesome the end result justifies it." - Tom Strawn
92) "I had a physical in the fall of 2006 that showed my PSA was quite
high and after further tests it was determined that I had prostate cancer.
After discussing this with the doctor I decided to have the prostate seed
implant. It is now one week short of a year that this was done and my PSA
is now down to 1.1 and I feel fine. The only side effect is that I am
still using Flowmax to help correct the flow and slight discomfort." -
W.K. Knapp
93) "During my first visit with Dr. Echt for Prostate Cancer, I was very
apprehensive about the future. Each member of Dr. Echt's office and
medical staff were great. The nurses were very helpful in getting me
prepared for the exam. During the exam, Dr. Echt was very positive and
reassuring. He and his nurse Bill Paara were as professional as anyone
could expect. In addition they seemed to be genuinely concerned for my
well being and comfort. They provided me with a good deal of information
and assured me that if I had any questions, after reading the information,
I should not hesitate to call and talk to one of the medical staff. During
the procedure Dr. Echt and his team were extremely well prepared for the
Prostate Seed Implant. The procedure went smoothly and I was discharged
shortly to go home and begin my recovery. Upon discharge, I was pleasantly
surprised at the detailed instructions provided. All follow up
appointments were made, along with instructions on what to be aware of and
whom to call should anything go wrong. I thank God, Dr. Echt, and his
staff for a prognosis that has been very good to date and I look forward
to a future that is cancer free. Dr Echt was recommended to me as one of
the best Radiation Oncologist’s in the area. I would not hesitate to say
that I think he is the BEST!" -
F. Herbert Campbell
94) "Seeds were implanted in June 2006 followed by 25 radiation
treatments. Two PSA tests since that time have shown near zero results.
Urologists followed up with 8 Lupron shots which zapped my energy for the
period I was taking the shots. Since going off the shots several months
ago my energy has slowly returned. The only drawback was a 15-pound with
gain. Generaly I feel good but see a slow down, probably this can be
attributed to age (72). My urologist plans for me to have a MRI in several
months."- D. King
95) "My journey began with the pronouncement that I had prostate cancer.
At first I did not know what to do. Since my background is engineering, my
first response was to begin research on the subject. There was a lot of
excellent information on the Internet. The one that particularly caught my
eye was an account by Andy Grove (co-founder of the Intel Corporation).
Andy also did a lot of research and for my stage of prostate cancer, I
find myself agreeing with him. This decision was helped by my
Urologist/surgeon, which very objectively laid out my options and his
opinion. He spoke highly about the Prostate Seed Institute and suggested
that I talk to Dr. Echt before I make my final decision."
"After having gone through the radiation and implant procedure, I am very
impressed with the compassion and professionalism of Dr. Echt and his
entire staff. Everyone went out of his or her way to provide a warm rather
than clinical atmosphere. In addition, they were very patient in helping
me understand the physics of the treatment, which gave me a focus away
from the concern I was experiencing." - Elton Floyd
